Progeria

Progeria is a rare genetic disease which gives rise to a very old external appearance in childhood. The earlier clinical manifestation of progeria is the failure to thrive (insufficient weight gain during childhood). Apart from that these kids show limited growth, hair loss, and small face. Kids who are suffering from progeria has a life expectancy of 15-24 years.

Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (ALWS)

This is a rare neurological condition. It affects detection of size and shape of an object. AIWS can associate with migraines and brain tumors. Patients who are suffering from AIWS can have one of following symptoms.

See things smaller than it actual size (Micropsia)
See things larger than actual size (Macropsia)
See objects near than actually they are (Pelopsia)
See objects far away from actually they are (Teleopsia)

Tree Bark Skin is an extremely rare genetic disease that also known as Epidermodysplasia verruciformis. It is developed due to an abnormal susceptibility to human papilloma virus (HPV 5 and 8 types) and ultimately causing growth papules and macules in hands and feet. Although there is no curative treatment yet, Patients have to undergo a number of surgeries to remove warts.

Pica

Can you eat stones, papers, glass, chalk, metals, and hair? I know it feels creepy, but trust me there are patients who eat that non-nutritional substance. In children, this can lead to intoxication of substances as well as surgical emergencies. Pica is a common manifestation of mineral deficiencies like Iron deficiency and celiac disease.

Stone Man Syndrome

This is a rare connective tissue disorder that turns damage soft tissues into the bones. As a result of bone formation, it causes physical disabilities. It’s also known as Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive. Treatments still in the research level, but perform surgeries to remove abnormal bone parts.

Hyperthymesia
